Stephen A. VanHaerents, MD is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty certification in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy. Dr. VanHaerents specializes in the medical and surgical management of epilepsy, with particular expertise in autoimmune-associated epilepsy, advanced neurodiagnostics, and neurostimulation therapies.
Dr. VanHaerents completed his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by residency training in Neurology and fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy. He is actively involved in patient care at Northwestern Medicine, where he treats complex seizure disorders and leads specialized clinical programs focused on autoimmune-related epilepsies.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. VanHaerents is engaged in clinical research and medical education. His academic interests include epilepsy surgery evaluation, neurostimulation technologies, and immune-mediated seizure disorders. He is dedicated to advancing epilepsy care through research, teaching, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
