Stephen A. Morgan MD

Dr. Stephen Morgan, MD is a Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer for Carilion Clinic. He has responsibility for clinical informatics and data analytics for the health system. Dr. Morgan helped to lead the systems implementation of an enterprise-wide EMR in 2008, the development of an enterprise data warehouse, and our data governance programs. He also co-leads Carilion’s digital health program.

He is board-certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Morgan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from The Virginia Military Institute and earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Dr. Morgan still sees patients and is an assistant professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
