Stephen J. Fortunato MD

Dr. Stephen J. Fortunato completed his obstetrics & gynecology residency at the University of New Mexico and his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas. He came to Ochsner from Southwest Texas Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Dr. Fortunato is a full professor at the University of Queensland with over 150 peer-reviewed publications, several book chapters, and over 400 abstracts. He is a past president of the Central Associations of OB-GYNs, the oldest OB-GYN society in the country. He was previously managing partner of the Maternal Fetal Group in Nashville, TN, after leaving his prior post as Section Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Tulane.

Dr. Fortunato has been in practice since 1986. He is also a sommelier, a licensed private pilot, and a licensed amateur radio operator.
