Dr. Gaillard earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and her M.D. and Ph.D. from Duke University. She completed her training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins University in 2012. Soon after, Dr. Gaillard joined the Duke Cancer Institute Medical Oncology faculty where she specializes in the medical treatment of gynecologic cancers with chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy.
Dr. Gaillard’s research focuses on understanding mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy and how to incorporate targeted therapy and immunotherapies into current practice. As a BIRCWH scholar, Dr. Gaillard will examined the effect of chemotherapy and immunotherapy on the immune cell subsets within gynecologic cancers. This work aims to better understand what effect therapy has on anti-tumor immunity and to identify pathways that could be pharmacologically exploited to improve responses to treatment.
