Stephanie E. Combs is a leading expert in the field of radiation oncology. Her core expertise lies in high-precision radiation therapy (stereotaxy, IMRT/IGRT/ART, protons/heavy ions), radiation biology, and combination therapies with radiation. Her scientific work includes therapy optimization of brain and skull base tumors, biomarkers in radiation oncology, pediatric oncology, gastrointestinal oncology, uro-oncology, gynecological oncology, radiochemotherapy, and radioimmunotherapy. Stephanie E. Combs works with her interdisciplinary team on various platforms. She implements this networking out of conviction: She is the Director of the Institute of Radiation Medicine at Helmholtz Munich and Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Senate Chair of the TUM and several national and EU-wide research networks. The Institute of Radiation Medicine works closely with the Department of Radiooncology at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar and physicians throughout Germany and Europe and is thus able to research findings gained in the laboratory on patients and bring new therapeutic approaches into the clinic.
Prof. Dr. Combs studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, with temporary stays abroad at the Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA, USA, and the University of Texas (UTHSCSA), San Antonio, TX, USA.
