Dr. Stefano Zanasi is a renowned orthopaedic surgeon specialising in advanced hip and knee surgery, regenerative medicine, hand surgery, and microsurgery. He practices internationally, including at 9 Harley Street and Weymouth Street Hospital, and performs approximately 950 surgical procedures each year.

Professor Zanasi is widely recognised for his expertise in advanced knee surgery, including robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty, customised knee implants, revision total knee arthroplasty, and concurrent bilateral or unilateral partial knee replacement procedures. His work in regenerative surgery focuses particularly on the treatment of lower-limb osteoarthritis using biological resurfacing techniques with resorbable scaffolds perfused with combined mesenchymal stem cells as an alternative to traditional implant arthroplasty.

In the field of advanced hip surgery, he specialises in minimally invasive neck-preserving hip arthroplasty, customised primary and revision hip replacements, robotic hip arthroplasty, and revision total hip arthroplasty. He is also experienced in regenerative medicine and prolotherapy using combined stem-cell therapies.

Professor Zanasi graduated with honours from the University of Modena in 1986 before completing further postgraduate training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. Over the course of his career, he has published extensively in the areas of minimally invasive resurfacing implant arthroplasty, tissue engineering, and biotechnology, contributing to 146 scientific publications in Italian, French, and English, as well as authoring three books.

He has held senior clinical and academic appointments throughout Italy, including professorships in Florence and currently in Bologna. In addition to his surgical and academic work, Professor Zanasi serves as a Technical Consultant for the Court of Modena and advises major biotechnology companies involved in the development of advanced regenerative medical technologies.
