Dr. Stefan Rohrig is working as a consultant in Anesthesia and Intensive Care since 2003. He grew up in Germany and graduated from the Medical School at the University of Muenster in 1997. After finishing his residency training in Anesthesiology at Klinikum Dortmund and Klinikum Luenen in Germany, both academic teaching hospitals of the University of Muenster, in 2003 he became a consultant at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Klinikum Luenen/Germany. In 2005 he finished his subspecialty training in Intensive Care Medicine and filled a position as a Senior Consultant and Vice-Chair of the department.
From 2007 onwards he did a four-term Master Study “General Management” at the University of Hagen/Germany. In 2009 the academic degree “Master of Science (M.Sc.)” was awarded to him by the Department of Business Administration and Economics of the University of Hagen/Germany. From August 2009 he was the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Marien hospital Muensterland. Dr. Rohrig holds membership of several national and international societies among other German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, European Society of Anesthesiology and American Society of Anesthesiology. He has also attended several national and international meetings and conferences as an invited speaker.
Dr. Rohrig is a course instructor in the field of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Emergency ultrasound of the German Society of Ultrasound in Medicine. He has developed and published the thoracoabdominal ultrasound training module of the German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine and has several publications in national and international journals with a focus on Critical Care Ultrasound and Emergency Ultrasound. Dr. Rohrig joined the Department of Anesthesiology, ICU & perioperative Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation in August 2016 as a Senior Consultant. Since February 2017 he is the Deputy Director of the Surgical ICU at Hamad General Hospital.
