Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Kluge is Director of the Clinic for Intensive Care Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. The specialist in internal medicine studied in Giessen, Hamburg and South Africa and then worked as a research assistant at the Hamburg University Hospital. In 2014 he was appointed professor. The intensive care physician and pneumologist focuses on respiratory medicine and two dreaded complications in intensive care units: sepsis and invasive fungal infections. For his scientific work, the 49-year-old has received several awards, including two times the Research Prize Intensive Care Medicine of the German Society for Internal Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DGIIN). In the DIVI he is active as head of the scientific congress program. From 2014 to 2016 he was also President of DGIIN.
