Stefan Artlich PhD

Stefan Artlich serves as Director ‘Track & Trace’ at Bayer. Being a mathematician and chemical engineer by profession Stefan has been involved in pharmaceutical serialization since its early days in 2008. He is renowned as one of the fathers of the European Point of Dispense. Verification’ model that ensures patients’ access to safe medicines.

Stefan played a key role in the design and development of the European Medicines Verification System and was responsible for implementing the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) at Bayer. With the system in Europe being up and running and the implementation being complete, he now identifies and exploits the value of the newly introduced system in the digital transformation of the supply chain from the manufacturer down to the patient. In 2016, Stefan was elected member of the GS1 Healthcare Leadership Team and he has served since then.
