Stana is an experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Manor Hospital. She was appointed to her consultant post in 2004. She qualified from London University and undertook her neurosurgical training in Bristol and Oxford. She was awarded the Lang Research Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England during her training. Stana has completed her term as Clinical Lead for the Department of Neurosurgery in Oxford and as the Neurosurgery Spinal Lead. She is the neurosurgery representative for the Thames Valley Spinal Network. Her sub-specialty interests include spinal surgery, neuromodulation, trigeminal neuralgia and craniofacial trauma. She is a senior member of the spinal and neuromodulation team, undertaking management of degenerative spinal conditions, spinal tumours, spinal dysraphism, spinal pain, neuropathic pain and spasticity. She is completing her term as the President of the Neuromodulation Society of UK and Ireland. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Oxford University. She is a College Assessor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is currently Chair of the Governance Committee for the National Neuromodulation Registry. She has published papers on neuro-oncology, neuromodulation techniques and outcomes, arachnoid cysts and craniofacial trauma in peer reviewed journals. She has written book chapters on Spinal Cord Stimulation, Arachnoid Cysts and the Management of Neurosurgical Emergencies. She on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neuromodulation. She is a Primary Investigator for the Study of High Intensity Frequency Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for saccro-coccygeal spinal tumours. She was an investigator for the PROMISE international trial assessing spinal cord stimulation. She enjoys gardening, reading and trying to keep up with friends and family! She is an 'arm-chair rugby fan', having previously played.
