Spencer Holaway Durham PharmD, BCPS (AQ-ID)

Spencer H. Durham, Pharm.D., BCPS (AQ-ID) is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Pharmacy Practice with the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. Dr. Durham is originally from Arab, Alabama and completed his pre-pharmacy coursework at Auburn University and graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2007.
He went on to complete an ASHP-accredited post-graduate residency at Children's Health System in Birmingham, Alabama in 2008. After completion of his residency, he joined the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida where he served as a clinical pharmacist in the areas of pediatrics and infectious diseases. During this time, he worked closely with the Florida State University medical residents and also served as a preceptor for both pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.
Dr. Durham became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2009 and was awarded an Added Qualification in Infectious Diseases in 2012 from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. Also in 2012, he was honored as Preceptor of the Year for the ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program at Sacred Heart Health System.
Dr. Durham joined the faculty of the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2013. He maintains a practice site at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System where he specializes in the area of infectious diseases. Dr. Durham teaches in courses throughout the pharmacy curriculum and serves as faculty advisor to the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA).
He is active in several state and national organizations including The Alabama Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (AlSHP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). His areas of scholarly interest include antimicrobial stewardship, the treatment of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO), and the safety and efficacy of vancomycin.
