Trained in Leicester, worked in Leicester, Peterborough, London and Oxford prior to taking up consultant post in Newcastle in 2009. Research MD undertaken in Oxford into Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Type 2 diabetes; research interests continue in this area, including as chief investigator of multicentre randomised trial of CPAP for diabetic retinopathy (started 2012). Lead of the Newcastle Regional Sleep Service and sits on the British Thoracic Society Sleep Specialist Advisory Group.
