Dr. Traven joins the faculty in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Traven is active in the United States Air Force. She was recruited to help the Department partner with UCDH to improve access to urgent Musculoskeletal care. Dr. Traven received her BA in Biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland and earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Traven completed her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and entered active-duty service with the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Traven served for 13 months in South Korea as the sole Air Force orthopedic surgeon on the peninsula for more than 32K troops and DoD beneficiaries. She garnered the Korean National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal for her service. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Society of Militar Orthopaedic Surgeons, is an AOA Emerging Leader as well as an active member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society. Additionally, she has two appointments as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences at Walter Reed and as a Clinical Research Instructor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Medical University of South Carolina. We are thrilled and honored to have her join our department as we build out a new service line in urgent care.
