Dr. Sofia Rivera, MD, PhD, is the Oncologist, Radiotherapist and head of the service in the radiotherapy department of Gustave Roussy cancer campus, since 2013 where she carries out clinical, research, and teaching activities mainly in the field of breast cancer.

Sofia Rivera is a doctor of medicine from the University of Burgundy (2008). The former head of a clinic and then hospital practitioner for public assistance – Paris hospitals (Hôpital Saint Louis), she is a specialist practitioner in cancer centers in radiotherapy oncology. She obtained her science thesis in radiobiology in 2016 and combines her clinical activity with pre-clinical and clinical teaching and research activities in radiobiology within the INSERM1030 unit.

She is a referent in senological oncology for the radiotherapy department of Gustave Roussy. She is the principal investigator of numerous therapeutic trials and in 2016 initiated the HYPOG-01 protocol, a multicenter randomized phase III study comparing moderately hypofractionated radiotherapy to normofractionated radiotherapy in breast cancers with the indication for lymph node irradiation, of which she is the main coordinator. . She also carries out research and teaching work in the field of delineation of target volumes and organs at risk and coordinates the delineation "e-learning" teaching program of the IAEA (international agency for atomic energy).

Sofia Rivera has been involved in associations for a long time, having been secretary of the French Society of Young Radiotherapists Oncologists (SFjRO). She is currently the head of the European group FALCON (Fellowship in Anatomical Contouring and Delineation) within the European Society for Radiotherapy (ESTRO). She also co-leads the STAR group (Synergy of Targeted Agents and Radiotherapy) within the EORTC (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer). She has been a member of the Scientific Council of the French Cancer Society since 2017.
