Dr. Sofia Konstantinopoulou is a US board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and sleep, medicine physician. She had the pleasure to train and work at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia while she was appointed as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

For the past 6 years, she has been working full-time as a tier 1 pediatric pulmonologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), which is the country’s largest tertiary-level center for pediatrics.

Throughout her tenure, she has had the privilege to take care of some of the most complex, chronic pediatric patients, and she has had the great pleasure to be part of multidisciplinary teams aiming in delivering efficient, compassionate, patient-centered care. As such, she is the clinical lead of our Aerodigestive Program, which is a unique multidisciplinary clinic in the country, for patients with acquired and/ or congenital breathing, swallowing, feeding problems, and difficulties with growth/development. Her main clinical focus is taking care of patients with sleep-disordered breathing and more especially, those who are on home mechanical ventilation.

She is passionate about medical education, as she serves as the core faculty of our ACGME accredited pediatric residency program, and she was recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Sheikh Khalifa University.

She is an active member of several professional societies including the Emirates Thoracic Society, CHEST, and the AASM. She was recently appointed as a member of the ATS International Committee.

She is open to national and international collaborations in clinical research, health advocacy projects, and medical education.
