Sofia Antunes Costa Lima PhD

Sofia Lima completed a PhD degree in Chemistry (UPorto), focused on biophysics for characterization of a membrane protein transporter. Subsequently was a PostDoc researcher at IBMC (currently I3S) for 5-years working on parasitology (in vitro and in vivo models of trypanosomatid infections), nanomedicine (development of drug delivery systems (DDS) for intracellular pathogens) and immunology (interactions of DDS with the immune system). Since 2013, Sofia Lima joined REQUIMTE as Assistant Researcher to apply the knowledge acquired in DDS to cancer and skin-inflammatory related diseases, achieving recognition as co-author of > 50 international peer-reviewed publications, student’s supervision and attaining funded projects on skin research
