Dr Sobia Zafar completed a Bachelor of Dentistry (2002) at the National University of Sciences & Technology (Pakistan) with distinction, a Master’s degree in Pediatric Dentistry (2008) from the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), and a Clinical Doctorate (DClinDent - Paediatric Dentistry) from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Otago, New Zealand.
During her doctorate studies, Sobia won a number of awards and prizes including runner up Colgate senior category IADR ANZ division (2012), best student presenter prize at the Faculty of Dentistry annual research day of University of Otago (2012, 2015), and winner IADR NZ Section Travel Award (2015). Sobia has completed a PhD at the University of Otago investigating the pathogenesis of bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ).
