Dr. Simon Barton has been Clinical Director of the HIV and Genitourinary Medicine Directorate, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital since 1996. He was previously registrar and research fellow at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and senior registrar at St Stephen’s and Westminster Hospitals.
He completed his MD thesis in local immunology of the cervix, with particular relevance to the effects of smoking and viral infection. He has been the elected president of the British Association for Sexual Health & HIV (BASHH) since 2006 and is Chair of the Royal College of Physicians Joint Specialty Committee in Genito-urinary Medicine.
