Sigrid Olthof joined ESSI as a postdoctoral research fellow in the domain of Sports Data and Analysis. Sigrid has experience working in sport science both in the scientific and practical fields. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Movement Sciences and a Master of Science degree in Sports Science at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. In her Ph.D. project at the University of Groningen, she has investigated performance in the elite. soccer in collaboration with the Dutch Soccer Association and professional soccer clubs.
Her Ph.D. focused on the relationship between performance in the official soccer match and small-sided games in youth soccer. Sigrid has an interest in team sports, data, and new technologies. She aims to optimize sports performance by monitoring training and match load and studying injury data. In her role at ESSI, Sigrid works with the Michigan Performance Research Lab and the U-M Athletic Department, and her research focuses on sport and performance data analytics, development, and integration.
