Dr. Siegfried Kasper is Professor and Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Medical University of Vienna. He is a specialist in psychiatry and neurology as well as a psychotherapist (psychoanalysis) listed in the list of psychotherapists in Austria and Germany. He is a holder of the Grand Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria and the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, First Class, as well as numerous other national and international awards.
Born in Salzburg in 1950, he studied at the Universities of Innsbruck, Freiburg, and Heidelberg in Germany. After completion of the specialist training and psychotherapeutic training at the University of Heidelberg and the training institute for psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in Heidelberg, he completed two-year research stay at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Bethesda / USA and subsequently worked as a senior consultant at the Psychiatric University Hospital in Bonn. In 1993 he was appointed Full Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vienna.
