Sidika E. Karakas MD

Dr. Karakas is a board-certified endocrinologist and internist, and a professor at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, and the Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. She established the PCOS program at the University of California, Davis. This program helped to train internal medicine and family practice residents, and endocrine fellows.

Dr. Karakas conducted several clinical studies focusing on the effects of different foods and supplements on obesity, insulin resistance, and hormones in PCOS funded by national and international foundations and the National Institutes of Health. She received the “Outstanding Clinician” award from the Department of Medicine and was recognized as a "Top Doctor" by Sacramento Magazine in 2018. Dr. Karakas recently published a book for women with PCOS to help them to take better care of themselves and become healthier. The link for the book is presented below.
