Siaw-teng Liaw MBBS, PhD, FRACGP, FACHI, FAIDH, FACMI, FIAHSI, Grad Dip AICD

Dr. Siaw-Teng Liaw is a clinician scientist with expertise in health informatics and systems research and education. He is a Foundation Fellow and Past President (2005-7) of the Australasian College of Health Informatics; Foundation Fellow of the Australian Institute of Digital Health; Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (2012); and Founding Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (2017). He heads the UNSW WHO Collaborating Centre on eHealth (AUS-135). He is an Associate Editor at the International Journal of Medical Informatics and BMJ Health & Care Informatics. He chairs the International Medical Informatics Association Primary Care Informatics WG.

His research aims to achieve cost-effective digitally-enhanced integrated primary care, prevention & management of chronic disease, access & equity, and safety & quality of care. His informatics R&D is focused on improving the digital health maturity of people and organizations to achieve and sustain a national enterprise-wide platform with fit-for-purpose interoperable tools and data to achieve and monitor universal health coverage and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He has a special interest in vulnerable and underserved populations, including Aboriginal and multicultural migrant communities, especially in under-resourced countries.
