Dr. Shweta U. Dhar, Associate professor of Molecular and Human Genetics, is the Director of Adult Genetics services at Baylor College of Medicine and Chief of Genetics at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX, and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Genetics. After completing her MD in Pathology from the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute in Ahmedabad, India, she moved to the US and completed a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX. She then completed a residency in internal medicine from New York and subsequently did a fellowship in Medical Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She has been practicing clinical genetics since 2008 and is also the course director for Medical Genetics and Director of the Genetics Track for the medical students at Baylor.

Dr. Dhar specializes in genetic conditions in the adult population including Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Neurofibromatosis, and familial cancer syndromes, to name a few. She has established an Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine and has been involved in the care of patients with heritable connective tissue disorders for almost 10 years. Besides many peer-reviewed publications, she has also recently authored a textbook chapter on heritable connective tissue disorders in Rudolph’s Pediatrics.
