Professor Shu Zhang, MD, PhD graduated from Suzhou Medical College, Peking Union Medical College, and Wu Han University, in 1984, 1987, and 2003, respectively. From 1995 to 1999, he studied in the VA Medical Center, State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn and the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, at The University of Alabama in Birmingham. Since 1999, he has been a full professor of medicine and electrophysiology at the National Center for Cardiovascular Disease & Beijing Fuwai Hospital and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Beijing Union Medical College.
Professor Zhang is also the current President of the Chinese Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology; Director of the China Training Center for Specialists of Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology; and Director of the Academic Committee of China Cardiologist Examination, the Academic Committee for Management of China Interventional Cardiology, and the Quality Control Committee for Arrhythmia Interventional Therapy of China. Professor Zhang’s research mainly focuses on sudden cardiac death and atrial fibrillation. He has published more than 200 research papers in the leading international journals including JACC and Heart. In addition, he is Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society, a Board Member of APHRS, and Councilor of WSA (International Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Society).
Professor Zhang takes on additional responsibilities as Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese edition of the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology and Associate Editor of the Chinese i. He also works as an editorial board member for several international cardiology journals such as Europace, Journal of Arrhythmia, and Journal of Innovations in Cardiac Rhythm Management.
