Shifa Turan MD degree from the University of Istanbul Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey. Subsequently, I received specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Istanbul. Afterwards, I completed my fellowship training on Fetal Medicine under the supervision of Prof. Kypros Nicolaides in Fetal Medicine at the Harris Birthright Research Center, King's College Hospital, UK. Following my fellowship, I joined the Division of Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Yale University. Thereafter, I joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Maternal Fetal Medicine working as the Director of the Fetal Heart Program. My clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis of fetal abnormalities and cardiac defects. I have extensive experience on the diagnosis of fetal heart defects using 3 and 4 dimensional ultrasound methods.
