Shibani Nicum MBChB, PhD

Dr Shibani Nicum is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and an Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at University College Hospital London, specialising in the treatment of women with gynaecological cancers. She trained at The Royal Marsden Hospital and was a consultant in Oxford from 2009, before moving to London in 2021.

Shibani is also the Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Gynaecological Group and Lead for Gynaecological Trials at Cancer Research UK and UCL Cancer Trials Centre. Her research interests are in BRCA-mutated cancers and the development of novel therapies in order to improve and personalise patient care. She has led a number of CR UK-funded studies, including the international ICON9, OCTOVA and 6MP BRCA trials.

In addition to her oncological practice, she is leading the development of services and research to improve the care of women with treatment-induced menopause following a cancer diagnosis and for those who have a hereditary risk of developing cancer. She is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group led by the Menopause and Ovarian Cancer Select Committees, and the British Gynaecological Cancer Society Menopause Guidelines Consensus Group.
