Shervin Shafa MD

Shervin Shafa, MD, joined MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2015 as part of its growing multidisciplinary esophageal center. Concurrently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology for the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Shafa completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital followed by an advanced fellowship in esophageal disorders at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also trained in advanced therapeutics for malignant and benign lesions of the esophagus. Dr. Shafa's research interests include endoscopic techniques and non-invasive methods for diagnosis and management of esophageal conditions.
