Shelly is an integrative medicine specialist who is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. In her clinical practice she equip her patients with knowledge and tools to enhance their health and well-being. She is particularly interested in finding new ways to utilize mind-body therapies to increase resilience and enhance quality of life in people with cancer and survivors — but also in health care providers.

When working with her patients, she consider all aspects of health, including nutrition, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. By accompanying people with cancer in all stages of disease and recovery, she strive to support conventional treatments by utilizing evidence-based approaches, including lifestyle changes, herbs and supplements, acupuncture, yoga, and massage. Her goal is to guide patients safely through the plethora of information on complementary methods, ultimately helping them to avoid unnecessary risk of adverse effects or drug interactions. Her research interests include investigating the role of stress and stress reduction on symptoms control, susceptibility for infection, and tolerance to treatment.
