Dr. Kleefield is currently on the faculty of Harvard Medical School (HMS). She is developing International Health Care Education and Training programs with physicians at HMS and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Kleefield is also an Associate Professor at the University of Nice Medical School in Nice, France.

Dr. Kleefield joined Harvard Medical International (HMI) as a Director in 1997. At HMI, she was responsible for health systems assessment and program development in the area of health care quality, safety, risk management and accreditation. Dr. Kleefield left HMI is 2008 to work more directly with faculty at HMS. She has programmatic experience in the following countries: Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Greece, India, Italy, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and the UAE.

Dr. Kleefield has extensive experience in the design and implementation of quality management programs for hospitals and health care systems. Prior to joining HMI she was Director of Care Improvement at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a 720-bed Harvard affiliated teaching hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Kleefield has also held positions in professional staff development and quality management, as well as several teaching positions at Harvard University. She was also a faculty member at the Harvard Business School.
