Sharon K. Lanning DDS

Dr. Lanning joined the faculty of VCU in 2004. In addition to her role as a professor in the Department of Periodontics, she also serves as core faculty within the Center for Interprofessional Education. She has held multiple regional and national leadership positions, including president of the Virginia Society of Periodontology, chair of the Periodontics Section of the American Dental Education Association, and liaison to the Commission on Change and Innovation of the American Dental Education Association. Dr. Lanning is a published author in peer-reviewed journals focusing on teaching effectiveness. She maintains a private practice limited to periodontics within VCU’s faculty practice; a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
