Sharmila Dorbala MD, MPH, MASNC, FACC

Dr. Sharmila Dorbala is a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and a leading expert in cardiovascular imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. She serves as the Director of Nuclear Cardiology and is affiliated with the Heart and Vascular Center, where she specializes in advanced multimodality cardiac imaging.

Dr. Dorbala completed her medical degree at Kakatiya Medical College and trained in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Nuclear Cardiology in the United States. Her clinical and research interests focus on nuclear cardiology, cardiac PET and SPECT imaging, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and cardiac amyloidosis.

She is internationally recognized for her contributions to cardiovascular imaging research and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, guidelines, and scientific statements. Dr. Dorbala has held several leadership roles in major professional societies, including the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, and is widely respected for her work in advancing the diagnosis and management of complex heart diseases through imaging innovation.
