Dr. Shaon Chakrabarti is currently working as Assistant Professor at National Centre for Biological Sciences. Sharon studied physics at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi (India), and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. He then went on to do a Ph.D. in Biophysics at the University of Maryland, College Park, under the guidance of Dave Thirumalai and Christopher Jarzynski. Sharon's work involved modeling biological systems using the tools of equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, with a focus on analyzing and interpreting single-molecule experiments involving force. Currently, Sharon is using analytical and computational tools to understand the evolutionary dynamics of various cancer types and come up with optimized drug-dosing schedules to improve treatment responses.
