Dr. Banerji completed his clinical training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba. He then pursued a 4-year research fellowship in cancer genomics at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Matthew Meyerson. Dr. Banerji’s training involved the use of next-generation sequencing technology to identify structural abnormalities, or mutations in the DNA of cancer cells, and understanding the consequences of these mutations to cancer cell growth using high-throughput functional screens. He has applied these novel technologies to a variety of malignancies including breast cancer, lung cancer, and sarcoma.
