Dr. Shannon Suo graduated from the UC Davis combined Family Medicine and Psychiatry program in 2003. From 2003-2010, she was the medical director for Turning Point's Northgate Point Regional Support Team (RST). In 2010, Dr. Suo joined the UC Davis Department of Psychiatry faculty, working at the Sacramento County Primary Care Clinic (PCC). At the PCC she provided direct patient care and worked with primary care providers, providing consultation and supervision around psychiatrically complex patients. In 2017, she became the training director for the UC Davis Family Medicine/Psychiatry residency program and started Sacramento County's first behavioral health urgent care, where she works with an interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate medical and psychiatric care for people in psychiatric distress.

Dr. Suo has presented locally and nationally on the issues of combined training and integration of medical and psychiatric care. Additional interests include cultural competence and women's professional development. She is the co-chair for UCD's Society for Women in Academic Psychiatry, a senior advisor to the UCD Psychiatry Diversity Advisory Committee, past president of the Central California Psychiatric Society, co-chair for the California Psychiatric Association Committee on Integrated Care, and serves on the board of directors for the Paul Hom Asian Clinic, a UC Davis medical student-run clinic.
