Shanmuganathan (shan) Shanmuganathan MD, MBBS, MRCP, FRCR

Shanmuganathan (Shan), who earned his medical degree at the University of Sri Lanka, has been a member of our department for over twenty-five years and has held the position of Professor of Diagnostic Radiology since 2003.

Dr. Shan in addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has coauthored over one hundred peer-reviewed journal articles on trauma imaging encompassing a wide variety of techniques and modalities. He has coauthored six books on emergency radiology and contributed to eighteen. Because of his expertise, he is a widely sought after invited speaker and has given two hundred presentations around the world. He has received a number of awards recognizing his contribution to emergency radiology. In 2014, he was awarded the American Society of Emergency Radiology’s Gold Medal. He is a Fellow of the Society and he delivered the Founder’s Lecture at the annual meeting in 2006.
