Shanda Blackmon MD, MPH, FACS

Dr. Shanda Blackmon is the Executive Director of the Baylor College of Medicine Lung Institute, is a highly accomplished thoracic surgeon and leader. She previously led the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital and served as a tenured professor at Mayo Clinic, where she developed innovative digital health programs and pioneered virtual survivorship initiatives. Dr. Blackmon holds multiple U.S. patents, including a novel esophageal anastomotic device, and specializes in complex esophageal reconstruction and 3D modeling. She has published over 200 manuscripts, delivered 300+ presentations, and created 100+ instructional videos. Her groundbreaking contributions have earned her recognition as a leader in thoracic surgery.
