Dr. Wang is a Professor and Associate Chair of Materials Science & Engineering, and jointly a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, and by courtesy, a Professor of Radiology at Stanford School of Medicine. He also serves as the Director of Stanford Center for Magnetic Nanotechnology and Co-Principal Investigator of Stanford Center of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence. His research interests lie in nanotechnology, information storage, and mobile sensors, including magnetic/spintronic biochips, in vitro diagnostics, cell sorting, magnetic nanoparticles, nano-patterning, spin electronic materials and sensors, pressure sensors and sensor network, power grid sensors and sensor network, as well as magnetic integrated inductors and transformers. He has over 200 publications, and holds 43 patents (issued and pending), and is an author of the textbook entitled Magnetic Information Storage Technology. He is a scientific founder of MagArray Inc. and serves on the advisory boards of Nvigen Inc. and several other companies. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) for his seminal contributions to magnetic materials and nanosensors. He has been recognized by numerous other honors and awards, including an Inaugural Frederick Terman Fellowship and two IBM Faculty Awards. The international recognition of his work has led to well over 100 invitations to speak or lecture in major conferences and institutions, and news coverage by ABC TV, Economist, Technology Review, Stanford Report, etc. He received the Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Carnegie Mellon University in1993.
