Shamsheer Vayalil MBBS, MD

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil is a physician, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the Founder and Managing Director of UAE-based VPS Healthcare, with 22 hospitals and over 125 medical centers in four countries. VPS Healthcare's pharmaceutical production facility LIFEPharma, located in Dubai, has been certified by United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA); Keita is VPS Healthcare’s food and catering arm, with commercial kitchens in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and Ludwig Royal Services is VPS' Germany-based medical concierge company for international patients. This year, the 80-bed Burjeel Hospital in Sharjah and Burjeel Medical City, a 400-bed cancer-specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi, are scheduled to start operations. VPS Healthcare is also looking at new markets and expanding into data-driven preventive healthcare. Dr. Shamsheer is also the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of UAE-based Amanat Holdings – the region’s largest healthcare and education Investment Company. Earlier this year, Dr. Shamsheer joined the Giving Pledge. He is actively engaged in numerous economic, social, and philanthropic initiatives. Dr. Vayalil is a member of the UAE Medical Council; member of the Advisory Committee of University of Sharjah’s College of Medicine; and member of the Kerala NRI Commission – a body with quasi-judicial powers set up in the Indian state of Kerala to protect the rights of Non-Resident Indians. He is also leading the charge for Indian expatriates to be given the right to vote from overseas in India’s elections.
