Shailesh Puntambekar MBBS, MS

Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar is a cancer surgeon specializing in laparoscopic cancer surgery. He is heading “Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute’, the Centre for Advanced Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery in Pune. Considered an expert in Laparoscopic Pelvic surgery and Gynecological cancer surgery in the world, he has developed laparoscopic radical hysterectomy for cancer cervix known the world over as the “Pune Technique”. Since the last few years, his lectures on Pelvic Anatomy have been widely acknowledged for the newer concepts in Pelvic Anatomy.

He is a faculty at the AAGL (American Association of Gynaecological Laparoscopy) and a member of the AAGL Oncology Committee. He has won the prestigious “Golden Telescope Award” for the best video at AAGL four times( In the years 2005,2009 & 2012) and is the only Indian surgeon to do so. He has also received the Kurt Semm Award for best video at AAGL 2015. He is the first robotic Oncosurgeon in India and has performed more than 400 robotic surgeries. Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar has always believed in sharing knowledge with others and thus, has many publications on his robotic experience. He has also developed laparoscopic radical hysterectomy for cancer cervix which is known the world over as the “Pune Technique”.

Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar has been invited by many countries to perform live surgical workshops in Germany, England, France, Romania, Turkey, Israel, Pakistan, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Australia, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Greece.
