Prof. Shail K. Chaube is a Ph.D. in Zoology from BHU (1996) and a post-doctoral fellow from CCMB, Hyderabad (1996-97). After working as ARO/RO for 10 years at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi (MOHFW, Govt. of India), he joined as a Reader in the Department of Zoology, BHU, Varanasi in 2007. He was then promoted as Associate Professor in 2010 and Professor in 2013. His area of specialization includes cell physiology, particularly in the field of meiotic cell cycle regulation, cell signaling, and apoptosis in female germ cells. He has authored more than 95 reviewed original research articles and 13 review articles in highly reputed international journals. He received Prof. G.P. Talwar's gold medal award for Middle Career Scientist at Rajiva Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram in 2013 for his contribution in the area of cell signaling during meiotic cell cycle regulation and apoptosis in oocytes/eggs. Recently he received the Outstanding Faculty award in the field of Zoology (Cell Physiology) by Venus International Faculty Award 2016 at Chennai dated 9th July 2016. The researcher under his dynamic leadership is currently working on the role of various signal molecules including reactive oxygen species on meiotic cell cycle regulation, achievement of meiotic competency, apoptosis, postovulatory egg aging, and development of potential biomarkers for egg quality using rats as animal models. He serves as an editorial board member of 6 highly-valued international journals.
