Sergio Sambataro DDS, MS, PhD

Dr. Sergio Sambataro was born in Catania on April 20, 1970. After graduating from high school, he graduated in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics at the University of Catania in 1993 and specialized in Orthognathodontics at the same university in 1998. In 2000 he obtained the Advanced Seminar in Bioprogressive Science at the American Institute for Bioprogressive Education in Arizona (USA) directed by Prof. Robert Murray Ricketts. In 2005, after three years of research on early treatments, he was awarded the title of Doctor of Research in Interceptive Orthognathodontics by the University of Catania. From 1998 to 2003 he actively collaborated with Prof. Robert Murray Ricketts at the American Institute for Bioprogressive Education, for the development of new orthodontic brackets and wires, deepening his studies on facial growth and anthropology.

Sambataro translated courses, conferences, and scientific texts from English. From 2007 to 2017 he was a lecturer at the Master's Degree in Orthodontic Sciences and Orthognathic Surgery at the University of Messina and since 2019 he has been a contract professor of Prosthetics at the Degree Course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics of the same university. From 2017 to 2020 he was a contract professor of Bioprogressive Orthodontics at the School of Specialization in Orthognathodontics of the University of Insubria. He is the author of scientific articles in national and international journals, a speaker at national and international courses and conferences, an active member of the Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO), a member of the Italian Society of Bioprogressive Orthodontics (SIOB), a member of the European Orthodontic Society (EOS) and member of the Italian Academy of Orthodontics. Since 1995 he has been exclusively involved in orthodontics and gnathology and since 2004 he has been the Director of the COS Orthodontics and Gnathology Center in Catania.
