Serena Scollen BSc, PhD

Serena takes up the post of ELIXIR Head of Human Genomics and Translational Data. She will lead the development and implementation of an ELIXIR-wide Human Data strategy. She will oversee the management (access, infrastructure and security), archiving (sustainability) and responsible sharing of human data consented for reuse in scientific research. She will also develop partnerships across the human genomics community and work with technical experts from the ELIXIR Nodes.

Serena joins us from Pfizer where she was a Director and Head of UK Genetics. In this role, she led and implemented a genetic and precision medicine strategy to support drug target selection and clinical programmes for the Pain and Sensory Disorders Research Unit. She has a PhD from the University of Cambridge and focused her earlier research career on the genetic susceptibility to disease.
