Serdar Turkyilmaz MD, PhD

He was born in 1967 in Trabzon. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Medicine in 1991. He completed his general surgery residency training in 2003 at Karadeniz Technical University(KTU), Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery.

In 2007, he completed kidney transplantation education at Akdeniz University Organ Transplantation Center. Also, he founded the kidney transplant center at Karadeniz Technical University in 2008 and performed the first kidney transplant in the same year. After that, he established a burn unit in 2009. He became an associate professor in 2011 and was appointed a professor of general surgery in 2016. In the same year, he improved the burn unit and made it the first and only burn care center in the Eastern Blacksea Region in Turkey.

He has been the head of the Department of general surgery at KTU since 2016. He has over 100 national and international publications. He is the founder and chairman of Karadeniz Surgical Society.
