She is a diabetes specialist nurse at the diabetes outpatient clinic of Istanbul University Medical Faculty Hospital where she works with patients with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes. She graduated from nursing school in 1995 and completed her master's degree in medical nursing in 2002. Her thesis subject was “The relationship between the diabetes attitude and well-being in type 2 diabetics”. She gained her Ph.D. in the nursing graduate program in 2010. Her research studies are focused on diabetes education, self-management, diabetic foot, and diabetes camps for children, she participated in the FEND (Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes) END CUP (European Nurses Diabetes Collaborative University Programme) between 1999–2000. She also attended a 3-day practical diabetology course at the Steno Diabetes Center in Denmark in 1998. She is a member of the Turkish Diabetes Foundation and an executive committee member of the Diabetes Nursing Association in Turkey, she was an executive committee member of FEND between 2007 and 2012.
