Selami Demirci, Ph.D., is a Staff Scientist specializing in stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, and translational research. His scientific career began with a deep interest in stem cell research during his doctoral training, where he studied multiple stem cell populations, including adipose-, bone marrow-, and dental tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells, as well as hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). His work focused on stem cell function, maintenance, differentiation, and tissue regeneration through ex vivo manipulation techniques and murine disease models.

Following his doctoral research, Demirci joined the National Institutes of Health as a postdoctoral research fellow, where he expanded his expertise in translational science and therapeutic development. His work at NIH provided the opportunity to connect laboratory discoveries with patient impact, strengthening his commitment to advancing clinically meaningful research.

Demirci’s research integrates stem cell biology, gene and cell therapy, and regenerative medicine approaches aimed at developing innovative treatments for human disease. He is recognized for combining rigorous experimental science with a strong translational perspective focused on improving patient outcomes.
