Sebastian H. Unizony MD

Sebastian Unizony, MD, is an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston and the co-founder and director of the Rheumatology Vasculitis Program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). His academic work focuses on applying clinical and translational research methodologies to improve understanding and treatment of systemic vasculitides, including giant cell arteritis (GCA), polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), and ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV).

He’s received research funding from the Arthritis Foundation, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and industry sponsors. He was among the first to investigate the use of interleukin-6 blockade as a therapeutic strategy for GCA and PMR and has contributed to the design and conduct of numerous clinical trials in these diseases.
