Dr Weaver trained at the University of Oxford and graduated in 1993. He completed his postgraduate training in Cambridge, Sydney and finally the “Wessex” registrar rotation. He completed a PhD in intestinal inflammation at the University of Bath in 2001 which is the basis of a strong clinical interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Dr Weaver was appointed as a consultant at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals in 2005. He is lead of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service and supports the nutrition service. He has a specialist endoscopy interest in colonoscopy being a national trainer and an accredited Bowel Cancer Screener. With his colleagues he looks after the broad range of gastrointestinal conditions.
He has a research portfolio being the principal investigator on a number of gastrointestinal trials and regularly presents at national and international meetings. He is also now clinical director of the medical directorate of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals.
