Sean Christopher Dowdy MD, MDFACS, FACOG

Sean C. Dowdy, MD, FACS, FACOG is a Professor and Chair of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, and a fellowship-trained Gynecologic Oncologist specializing in ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancer and complex benign gynecologic surgery. He is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Dowdy grew up in New Hampshire, and completed a BA in English at Cornell University, a medical degree at Georgetown University, and a residency and fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He also completed a 6-month Mayo Scholar program in Lille, France, and Berlin, Germany, focusing on laparoscopic oncology.

Dr. Dowdy is Vice-chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Midwest Chair of Quality, Experience, and Affordability. He serves on the Executive Committee of the NIH-funded May Clinic Ovarian SPORE within our Comprehensive Cancer Center and has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, including the International Guidelines for Enhanced Recovered After Surgery, among the most downloaded publications in the journal Gynecologic Oncology. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, ERAS USA, and is a former board member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons.
