Dr. Scott Cheatham is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Kinesiology at California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. Dr. Cheatham received his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Chapman University and his Ph.D. in Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Cheatham is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and a board-certified specialist in orthopedics (OCS). He also holds several fitness certifications and is a certified ergonomic specialist.

Dr. Cheatham is a national presenter for various organizations and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, and several home study courses on the topics of orthopedics, health & fitness, and sports medicine. He is the co-editor and contributing author of the textbook titled: Orthopedic Management of the Hip and Pelvis. Dr. Cheatham's professional responsibilities include being on the editorial board of the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association and being a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training, American Journal of Sports Medicine, NSCA Strength & Conditioning Journal, and NSCA's Personal Training Quarterly.

Dr. Cheatham is a consultant for various health and fitness organizations including Equinox Fitness Clubs, American Council on Exercise, and Trigger Point Therapy products. He is also an expert consultant for the Physical Therapy Board of California and is an expert witness for legal cases involving the practice of physical therapy. He is also the owner of the Sports Medicine Alliance (NIRE, Inc.) where he provides general orthopedic physical therapy, sports medicine, and sports performance services. Dr. Cheatham specializes in treating post-operative and non-operative orthopedic conditions of the spine, pelvis, and hip.
