Scott D. Bender PhD

Dr. Scott D. Bender was born in Houston, Texas but moved with his family to Australia early on and lived there for several years. Despite their love of the outback, his family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where Scott went to high school. He later majored in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Texas under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Rogers. After completing an internship in Clinical Neuropsychology in the School of Medicine at Yale University, he was accepted into the Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship program in the Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia. Two years later, he was asked to join the faculty at UVA and has been here since 2002. Aside from neuroscience, Dr. Bender has keen interests in live music, travel, kayaking, and soccer. He hopes to learn to play the guitar before his three-year-old son does.
